--end our expensive reliance on foreign fossil fuel
--invest in the research and development of alternative energy sources and energy-efficient technology
--improve the power grid to transmit and distribute energy more efficiently and facilitate the use of wind and other renewable energy sources
--set a national goal of zero net energy use in all federal facilities and provide incentives to minimize energy use in the construction and operation of other buildings
--is an arbitrary system that substitutes the whims and biases of politicians and bureaucrats for the sensible decisions of families and consumers.
--will artificially increase the price of goods produced in our nation, put our companies at a competitive disadvantage, and cost us thousands of jobs.
--would have little global impact as India and China would still be unfettered in their CO2 output. We must:
--reduce our reliance on foreign oil via an “all of the above” strategy that includes the rapid development of nuclear power plants and the exploration and use of clean natural gas, which also brings jobs to Colorado
--take a balanced approach to the responsible development of our traditional energy resources
--provide stable and attractive incentives towards renewable energy research and development
--establish a national requirement to draw 25% of our electricity from renewable energy sources by 2025
--invest in renewable energy development
--update our electrical grid to include transmission lines that carry renewable energy
--offer incentives for producing and purchasing alternative fuel vehicles
--provide grants that spur improvements to inefficient buildings
--increase minimum requirements for fuel efficiency
--build energy-efficient federal buildings
--invest in a fleet of energy-efficient government vehicles
--prioritize the development and export of our vast natural gas resources to help our country steer clear of foreign oil
--responsibly develop domestic coal, oil, and natural gas resources by including local communities in the decision-making process and making sure that potential impacts to our air, water, and climate are mitigated
