Imagine A Great Election Projects Victory in Election 2008 for the American People
Whatever the outcome of the Presidential election tonight, Barack Obama has changed politics forever. His campaign for Change We Can Believe In was financed by millions of Americans, none of whom was a lobbyist. His campaign rests on the shoulders of people who give of their precious time, which ultimately is more important than all the financial contributions. Barack Obama’s campaign took the high road in debating the real issues even at the end of this election, when John McCain and his campaign chose to mount personal attacks on Obama’s race, religion, and patriotism.
Aside from the attack ads airing all weekend, McCain’s supporters such as Hank Williams, Jr. have freely said such things as Barack Obama does not believe in the Star-Spangled Banner. Shame on Williams and on McCain for not stepping forward and speaking the truth. All Americans who have been energized for the first time or re-energized by Barack Obama’s message of hope will carry on our mission to bring out the best in America and Americans. It is not only our right to speak for justice, it is our responsibility.
Imagine A Great Election Projects Barack Obama will be Elected President of the United States We have surveyed all established polls and the site which averages the polls, RealClearPolitics.com. These polls project the popular vote and the electoral vote state-by-state. This process is critical now more than ever since the election of 2000 taught us what we may have forgotten from civics class: The candidate who receives the most popular votes does not necessarily win. It is the candidate who receives 270 or more electoral votes who wins. All the polls are projecting an electoral victory for Barack Obama of varying degrees as well as a victory in the popular vote.
We have used Rasmussen Reports for our baseline polling results for 2008 in part because of this resource’s accuracy in 2004. The other reason we’ve gone to Rasmussen Reports poll results every morning since December of 2007 is the unrelenting conservative/Republican bias reflected in the advertisements on the website and the site’s association with Fox News. Every day, readers of Rasmussen Reports are greeted with a very unhappy man with a gun who wants us to back John McCain so he (the unhappy man) can keep his guns. Every day, John McCain and his running mate are featured.
Every day, Scott Rasmussen has reported his findings in a daily tracking poll. Today, the last day of polling, these results are 52% Obama and 46% McCain. Rasmussen’s electoral vote projections are 286 for Obama and 160 for McCain.
Imagine A Great Election invites you to make your own educated projections on our Electoral Vote Tracker, using whatever polls and other information you choose. Any reputable pollster will tell you there are imponderables. Much has been made of the hidden racist vote. There is also much to be made of the enthusiasm scale for each candidate.
We will post our state-by-state projections by 5 p.m. Mountain Standard Time, before the first polls close.
